Squidbee Art Books
Everything I love about art and design is integral to my bookmaking process. I incorporate drawing, painting, collage, weaving, embroidery, printmaking, typography, photography, papermaking, cyanotypes, repurposing materials, among other techniques. Each book becomes a unique, multidimensional piece of art, reflecting a blend of traditional and contemporary methods. In 2020 just before I began teaching remotely, I was introduced to the monthly #areyoubookenough challenge on Instagram. With a different theme each month, it’s invigorating to make books to share with a large community and reflect with one another about the process. I’ve learned so much from other bookmaking artists, and find myself exploring new techniques and perspectives after engaging with the community.

This book is a pop-up Mini Monir Museum, featuring tiny illustrations of mirrored sculptures created by Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian.
This hexagonally-shaped program features prints of some of her still life paintings, such a contrast to her sharp mirrored-works.
#areyoubookenough_heal. Spools of thread are for mending and making something new, and that often happens simultaneously during the healing process.
